Have I mentioned that my new upstairs neighbor is Erin Dollar of I Made You a Beard!? I can hear her sewing beautiful chin-shag for people through my ceiling, a sound that has become quite reassuring, proof that YES! We can make a living from our art! Check out her etsy shop too.

Advertisements Listener Visualizations

May 5, 2009 is pretty cool, the fact that it keeps track of your listening habits is pretty fun. The limited charts/visualizations of habits, however, leave something to be desired. Luckily there are a number of other visualizers that I think you should probably check out. 🙂

LastGraph produces PDF posters of your listening trends within any time frame you choose.

While not available as an interactive, but you should definitely see the inspiration for LastGraph, this awesome project from Lee Byron.

Not as awesome as the histograms above, it relies on common tags as opposed to artist, but still fun. Get yours!

And I’ve just discovered that Rocket Surgeon, a blog dedicated to music 2.0 and digital entertainment, has put together a more comprehensive list of visualizations than the one I just started. So go check it out!

Info Design Sources

May 1, 2009

Yes. I’m neck deep in my thesis project and thought I’d share some of my favorite resources.

About my project:
A Self Portrait through Information Design: I am creating a graphic representation of my identity by exploring the data that makes up my past, present and future.

Visual Complexity

InfoDesign: Understanding through Design. A constantly rolling news feed of information design, but it takes a couple clicks to get to the pretty pictures.

50 Great Examples of Infographics

presents the work of Stefanie Posavec.

History Shots

A Periodic Table of Visualization Methods. Wow. This one is not pretty, and it’s cliched use of the periodic table may be called into question, but I find the categorizing of InfoGraphic types very helpful.

My Daily Routine

May 1, 2009

This is exactly my day. It’s accurate, personal, humorous, and it even has three levels of information! I should have drawn this for my thesis instead of all these crazy charts. 🙂
